When outsiders try to understand the machinations of the inner sanctum, hilarity ensues; as we have illustrated in today’s issuance.
This comic idea came from a post over on Japanator about a local news reporter trying to inform the Mundanes as to what the big deal is with Anime Expo. There wasn’t a conversation like the one we show here, but I can only imagine that if the reporter had waited long enough, he may have run into someone like our friend in the comic who may have responded in a similar way.
Let’s just say that I’ve hung around with my fair share of anime fans.
Speaking of anime fans, the word used to describe such fans is “otaku”. I’ve mostly seen it used to describe anime fans, but an “otaku” is basically a fan of anything (so you can be a video game otaku, bento (box lunch) otaku, etc). I’ve never cared for the word due to it’s negative connotations, but I may be looking too much at its Japanese usage instead of its loanword usage.
See you Thursday!
